Siena is a medieval city, a UNESCO site, located in the heart of Tuscany. According to the legend, it was founded by the son of Remo and with respect to this, you can find numerous statues representing Remo and Romulus nursed by the Wolf. In the thirteenth century, Siena experienced the period of its greatest splendor. The communal government was controlled by the “Nove,” or the Nine, who had made a great contribution to the building of Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Pubblico, the Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece, and the Torre del Mangia. A very interesting fact is that the Torre del Mangia has the same hight as the bell tower of the Duomo to symbolize the balance between divine and earthly power. The city is also well-known for Banca Monte Dei Paschi di Siena, founded in 1472, the oldest bank of the world that works till our time. Siena preserves a unique medieval architectural heritage that frames ancient traditions handed down from father to son, including the famous horse race, Palio di Siena, where every citizen of the city takes part from the time of their birth.
